Culture Café - Sean O'Brien


Sean O'Brien is an outstanding poet, among the best of his generation. He grew up in Hull and studied at Cambridge. He lives in Newcastle-upon-Tyne where he teaches at the University, and he is a visiting Professor at St. Anne’s College, Oxford. Awards include the Eric Gregory Award and the Somerset Maugham Award, and he is one of only two poets to receive the prestigious TS Eliot Prize and TS Eliot Poetry Prize for the same volume (The Drowned Book) in 2007. Other collections include The Frighteners, Night Train and November, and he’ll be reading from his most recent work Europa, just published and widely praised.
