We celebrate the newly restored 60th anniversary edition of Vertigo - swirling onto our screens - with a season of films by the Master of Suspense - Alfred Hitchcock.

Beginning with Vertigo - a tale of dark, spiralling obsession starring Jimmy Stewart (who stars in three of these films) and Kim Novak - is perfectly complemented by the influential, voyeuristic drama Rear Window, starring Stewart as the peeping tom who thinks he's seen a killing, and the classic mistaken identity thriller North by Northwest.

The next pair of films showcase Hitchcock's fondness for the work of Daphne du Maurier - first with the 1940 adaptation of her classic novel *Rebecca** (Hitchcock's second du Maurier adaptation) and then his re-imagining of her short story The Birds, starring the one-and-only Tippi Hedren.

Rounding off this season is an underrated gem starring Scotland's own Sean Connery - Marnie sees Hedren star as a duplicitous crook who just can't bring herself to love Connery's increasingly inquisitive suitor...

Enjoy these films on the big screen - where they belong - and keep an eye out for seagulls as you leave the cinema...
