The Seer Helaena Targaryen in “House of the Dragon” is Speculated to be Autistic

House of the Dragon Season 2 drops to 8 episodes, departing from its 10-episode predecessor!

The American series House of the Dragons portrays Helaena Targaryen as a quiet and thoughtful character, which has led to some speculation about her being autistic.

Helaena Targaryen is a character from a popular HBO series, House of the Dragon, based on the George R. R. Martin novels.

In the American fantasy series, actress Phia Saban plays the adult Helaena Targaryen, with young artist Evie Allen portraying her younger version.

Moreover, Helaena’s unusual behaviors and prophetic insights make her a unique personality in the series.

Queen Helaena Targaryen is the sister-wife to Aegon II, daughter of King Viserys I, and his second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower.

Helaena’s unusual actions, such as talking to insects and repeating her visions, have made some think she might be on the autism spectrum.

Yet, no official confirmation exists regarding Helaena being autistic in the book or the show.

However, the way she acts and the traits she possesses in the show have led some viewers to guess that Helaena may be autistic.

Furthermore, in House of the Dragon Season 1, we see Helaena chanting, “He’ll have to close an eye,” hinting at a future event involving her brother Aemond.

After her prediction, her brother Aemond ends up losing an eye. This ability to see into the future is one of the reasons why some people wonder if she’s on the autism spectrum.

One of the users on Reddit expressed his beliefs regarding Helaena, stating,

I’ve heard that the showrunners have said she will be played as if she has autism in the show, because that’s how she was perceived in the books. It’s an interesting take imo. Also, a lot of Targs had prophetic dreams so it’s definitely possible.

Additionally, theories about Helaena become more believable when considering that her great uncle, Vaegon the Archmaester, is also seen to have experienced similar conditions.
